In October 2005, an association was set up under the name of ICLA. This is an informal gathering of in-house competition experts that meets approximately twice a year  in Brussels. The first meeting took place at the BT Tower in London in October 2005.

Membership is free and open to in-house lawyers responsible for competition law in their own company. ICLA does not represent companies but individuals experts in competition law matters who work in-house. 

ICLA has now more than 470 members in 12 countries.
